Call for Manuscripts

Perpetua, the UAH Journal of Undergraduate Research, calls for manuscripts for the second issue!

Instructions for Authors

Submissions for the second volume of Perpetua will be accepted until Monday, February 27th, 2017. Late submissions will not be considered for publication and early submissions are encouraged!

To submit your manuscript, send an email with your manuscript attached as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file to perpetua@uah.edu. The subject line should simply be “Submission.” In the body of your email provide your name, A#, phone number, and UAH e-mail address. You must also include your mentors name, phone number, and e-mail. Please correctly label your name and phone number, to separate them from your mentor’s.

The research or creative project must have been completed while the student was an undergraduate; the student may submit research within one year after graduating. The work should be substantially that of the student, and be sufficiently complete to warrant publication. The student is required to work with a faculty/researcher mentor (including tenure-earning and tenured faculty, lecturers, full-time research staff with Doctoral level credentials and term faculty appointments). Professionals outside of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) are also permissible with prior approval.

Students must notify their mentor that they are intending to submit for publication. The mentor should give guidance and advice, and is expected to critically read and approve the accuracy and content of the abstract and manuscript prior to submission. The mentor must also agree to be listed as a co-author. All authors are required to affirm and explain their contribution to the manuscript, agree to the conditions of publication including the availability of data and materials, and declare any conflicts of interest.  We encourage all authors to state their contribution to the study in the acknowledgements section; this information will be published in the paper.

Manuscripts should be submitted as Word files. They should be 5-15 pages in length, typed, single-spaced, fully-justified, with one-inch margins, 12 point Times New Roman font, and numbered pages. Illustrations, tables, and figure legends should be embedded within the text at the locations preferred by the authors. Citations should be formatted in the most recent editions of the citation style appropriate to their academic disciplines e.g. MLA, Chicago, APA, etc. The chosen format must be used consistently throughout the manuscript. Submissions must include an abstract of 250 words (maximum).
If you have any questions contact the Perpetua Journal of Undergraduate Research at perpetua@uah.edu.
